Wake Up at a Set Time.
Even if you don’t have anything to do for a couple of hours, GET UP! I find myself in such a better mood when I don’t have to wake up and immediately get ready to leave my house. I like to wake up every morning at 6:30, no matter what. With my summer schedule, I don’t have obligations until 9:00 am, but that extra time to get things done is so rewarding. Take that time to watch a show you’ve been wanting to see, finish that book, reorganize a space in your house…the list is endless.
Keep your Planner on Your Nightstand.
If you’re like me, you don’t do anything without your planner (including sleeping….I kid, I kid). I like to keep my planner beside my bed so as soon as my alarm goes off, then snoozes, then goes off again; my planner to be in reach. It’s so easy to immediately get up and reach for your phone, then BOOM, 1 hour has gone by and you’ve spent it scrolling through your various social media feeds.
- I like to keep my phone far away from reach so when my alarm goes off, I have to physically get up to turn it off. Once I’m up, I’m up (you’re welcome).
Reaching for your planner to see your forecast for the day helps you stay on track from the start to finish! I personally keep two planners, my day to day planner is my Lilly Pulitzer Planner (Exotic Garden Pattern) I keep this planner to keep any lists I have to refer to throughout the day. I also have the Happy Planner, I typically only carry it around if I’m carrying a bigger bag or if I have something huge planned for the day. I love the Happy Planner because it allows me to be creative, there’s plenty of space for adding in specific details, the use of a time frame system, inspirational quotes, and I write weekly/weekend goals.
- Ok, so you’ve reviewed your planner and you’ve made your bed…
Get up, grab some coffee, tea or even water….if you’re like me you probably do all three within the first 2 hours of being a functioning human. As I sip on my morning beverage of choice I like to read a verse of the day from my Bible App, listen to a motivational podcast and spend time with God.
Plan Your Outfits for the Week.
This is subject to change especially if you’re like me. I like to plan 5-7 outfits and keep them out on my garment rack. Once I plan / style my outfits out I like to go ahead and steam them that way when I wake up I don’t have to worry about what to wear each morning or dreadful ironing.
Keep the things you surround yourself clean and organized.
The first thing I do in the mornings when I get out of bed is to make it, as cliche as it sounds, I feel so much better when my bed is made and it makes your room look a lot neater than it might actually be. And when you’ve made up your bed, you’ve already accomplished one thing for the day! Yay for productivity! Another thing I like to stay on top of …. laundry. I personally like to do laundry on Wednesdays, this is a weekly goal I have for myself. The more often you do laundry, the easier it is to tackle…. and it’s another accomplishment!
